Mombasa county governor Hon Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has disclosed that Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement party will support President William Samoei Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza administration even after the former Prime Minister failed to win the African Union Chairperson seat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
While speaking from Likoni in Mombasa county, the vocal Orange Democratic Movement party deputy party leader stated that ODM party will be in government come 2027. He slammed a section of leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement party such as Nairobi county Senator Hon Edwin Sifuna who have been criticizing President William Samoei Ruto especially after Raila Odinga lost the AUC bid.
Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir further added that many people thought that after Raila Odinga lost the African Union Chairperson elections in Addis Ababa, ODM party leaders will return to the country and cause chaos. He said president William Samoei Ruto stood with Raila Odinga in Addis Ababa until the last minute, and they are not going to leave the head of state during these difficult moments facing his administration.
“I am speaking as deputy party leader of ODM, 2022 we will be inside. It is time to speak with friend, I was in Addis Ababa… I can assure you, I am giving you an assurance this government of William Samoei Ruto never betrayed Baba in AU elections. Let me tell you the truth, there are some people who thought when we return here we shall forget our principles of social democracy and burn the country.” Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir said.
This comes after Senator Edwin Sifuna slammed Kenya Kwanza leaders who want Raila Odinga to join the government. Sifuna said Raila Odinga will decide his future.
