Nairobi – Jacob Ogendo, a state law enforcer, has withdrawn the case he had filed against Ian Njoroge.

The traffic police officer sued a 19-year-old Njoroge for beating him up in public and allegedly robbing him of his phone.
Ogendo told the court that he had decided to drop the charges against Njoroge on humanitarian grounds.

He said he is a parent and that no one influenced him.
“I have made the decision voluntarily. As a parent, I believe young people deserve a second chance,” he told Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi.
Ogendo’s decision was well received by Ian and his family, who thanked him by telling the court that he was sorry for his deeds, promising not to repeat them.
Speaking to the media outside court, Ian’s lawyers, his parents and former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko both thanked Mr Ogendo for his kind gesture which saw Ian free.
On her side, Ian’s mother congratulated the judge for not being influenced.
