Nairobi – Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi has downplayed the looming coalition between former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The meeting, initially intended to be secret, was revealed when images surfaced online, fueling speculation about a potential opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Taking to social media, Kalonzo said they were comparing notes on the current political situation in the country.
“I enjoyed a cup of Kenyan tea with my friends, Second Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya Rigathi Gachagua and DAP-Kenya Party Leader, Eugene Wamalwa, in Nairobi earlier today. Together we compared notes and shared our thoughts about the current political situation in the country, region and continent,” Kalonzo said.
Why Amisi thinks Gachagua-Kalonzo aren’t serious
However, reacting to the meeting, Amisi said the three politicians were in a relaxed mood and could not make a strong opposition.
According to Amisi, Gen Zs can provide a strong opposition to President William Ruto compared to the coalition of Gachagua and Kalonzo.

The ODM lawmaker challenged the Gachagua-Kalonzo team to organise a political rally to prove they are serious presidential contenders.
The outspoken lawmaker argued that former prime minister Raila Odinga’s absence should be an avenue for Kalonzo and his team to show Kenyans that they can provide an alternative leadership
“With this kind of relaxation mood, a GenZ can take over the opposition and beat Ruto hands down while you will still be relaxing here plotting to remove the government that GenZ would have formed. Can’t you guys even hold one rally in Lamu around the beach, you can’t miss a few tourists there. Trust me, itajaa. Raila amewaachia kiwanja wazi, and he might come back and find you still relaxing here with Wamunyoro. Which opposition is this, surely!” Amisi said.
Will Gachagua support Kalonzo
As reported earlier, the former deputy president affirmed his resolve to work with other opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Monday, January 27, Gachagua committed to teaming up with the Wiper leader and Wamalwa to face Ruto in the upcoming poll.
Gachagua stated that alongside other leaders, they are committed to liberating the country from Ruto’s administration.
According to the former Mathira lawmaker, the opposition will make whatever sacrifices necessary to ensure the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader is a one-term president.
