Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has clarified rumors about the alleged appointment of Muhoho Kenyatta, the younger brother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, to President William Ruto’s Cabinet.
The rumors began after President Ruto met with Uhuru at his Ichaweri home, where they reportedly discussed Muhoho’s inclusion in the Cabinet. However, Kioni dismissed these claims as false.
In a statement yesterday, Kioni explained that Muhoho Kenyatta was not interested in holding any government position. He added that if Muhoho were interested, he would have already applied for such a role.
Kioni described the allegations as baseless and aimed at damaging the reputation of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. “Nobody wants to mention Muhoho Kenyatta or nominate him to the Cabinet. If he wanted to be part of it, he would have joined a long time ago. They are not interested in these matters,” Kioni said.
He also denied rumors of a potential merger between Uhuru’s Jubilee Party and President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Kioni emphasized that Jubilee remains in opposition and continues to advocate for the people’s grievances.
“I want to state clearly that we are not merging with UDA. We have no intention of doing so. Jubilee remains in opposition and will continue to represent the views of the people,” Kioni said.
He added that Uhuru Kenyatta’s discussions with President Ruto were consistent with Jubilee’s ongoing efforts to voice public concerns. “What Uhuru Kenyatta told Ruto are the same things Jubilee has been telling the government. We will keep speaking up for the people until the end,” Kioni concluded.
