Bishop Ben Muthee Kiengei, the founder of the Jesus Christ Compassion Ministry, has spoken out about the serious accusations against Elias Njeru, who is accused of attacking his partner, Florence Wanjiku.
During a church service on November 24, Kiengei stressed the importance of justice in this case and reaffirmed his church’s commitment to respecting women.
The situation has attracted a lot of attention in the media. It reportedly began with a fight between Njeru and Wanjiku at their home in Nakuru’s Olive area. In light of this, Bishop Kiengei urged the police and authorities to investigate thoroughly and ensure that justice is served.
He said, “The church deals with sin, while the government deals with crime.” This statement highlights the bishop’s belief that while the church offers moral guidance, legal issues should be handled by the proper authorities.
Kiengei strongly condemned violence against women, stating that all members of his church respect women and would never harm them. “All men in this church respect our women, and we do not intend to hurt them,” he emphasized.
Elias Njeru turned himself in to the Nakuru Police Station after the allegations surfaced. He was arrested and held while investigations continued.
Njeru appeared in court before Principal Magistrate Daisy Mose at the Molo Law Courts, where he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges.
The court granted him bail set at KSh 200,000 or an alternative bond of KSh 500,000. However, the magistrate placed strict conditions on his release, warning him not to interfere with the investigation or contact Wanjiku.
The case is set for a pretrial hearing on December 9, where further decisions will be made.
