CS Mbadi Announces Major Changes in Treasury in Major Reshuffle

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has made a bold move by announcing a major reshuffle in his ministry. Through a Gazette Notice released on Friday, November 22, Mbadi appointed 15 new officials to various boards and committees. This shake-up is seen as a step toward streamlining operations within the ministry.

Among the notable appointments is Mary Mukami Njehu, alongside Sylvester Willys Namagwa. They will serve as members of the Disciplinary Committee for the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). Their role is to uphold public trust and oversee ethical standards in the accounting profession.

John Odhiambo Mudany also made headlines after being named chair of ICPAK’s Registration and Quality Assurance Committee. This team provides critical oversight on accounting and auditing standards. Other committee members include Haron Koimur, Erasto Mukuria Ng’ang’a, Stanley Mugo Mwangi, and Fred Edward Otieno Ambala.

Additionally, Linda Susan Ingari was appointed to the Public Procurement Regulatory Board. Her selection reflects Mbadi’s focus on enhancing accountability in procurement processes. Meanwhile, Robert Kiprop Chelagat joined the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.

These changes will take effect immediately, with all appointees serving three-year terms. Mbadi emphasized that the appointments are crucial for ensuring professionalism and efficiency.

The reshuffle coincides with President William Ruto’s latest state appointments. Among them, former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra will lead the Kenya Biovax Institute Limited. Retired General Robert Kibochi was tapped to chair the Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital board.

Observers view these decisions as a strategic alignment within government institutions. The aim is to inject fresh ideas and ensure top performance. Critics, however, question whether these appointments prioritize merit over political connections.

As the dust settles, the public will watch closely to see how these new leaders tackle their roles. Will this reshuffle deliver tangible results, or is it merely a political gesture? Time will tell.
