Police Remove Dozens of Anti-Ruto Billboards Mounted at Night Across the City ahead of Ruto’ Address

Police were early Thursday deployed to various places in the city in anticipation of the protests.

The officers also patrolled on foot and cars dispersing any group of more than three.

Early morning, police removed dozens of billboards mounted across the city ahead of the planned protests.

The billboards were mounted at various junctions and roadsides on night.

Police warned that no protester will be allowed in Nairobi informing that no notice about the protests was issued.

The caution follows reports circulating on social media about possible demonstrations at Parliament linked to growing political discontent.

The June 25th protest, which was announced days in advance, saw a significant turnout of young protesters demanding political and economic reforms.

Four eyewitnesses interviewed during the investigation noted that police appeared overwhelmed by the sheer number of protesters and were unable to maintain control without resorting to violence.

During the signing of performance contract, President Ruto issued tough statement to his CSs and PSs urging them to deliver.

At the same time, President Ruto labelled critics of his administration as “enemies of Kenya.”

In a veiled message to his critics, the President expressed confidence in his administration. “This country will not fail. This great nation that God has given us will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame because we are going to succeed and take this country forward,” he said.

Addressing the controversial universal health coverage initiative, which saw his administration transition the National Social Health Insurance Fund into the Social Health Authority and which has attracted intense criticism from the Church, members of the public and some elected leaders, Ruto insisted that the system would work.
