Moi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Isaac Kosgey arriving at the EACC offices in Eldoret

Moi University VC Professor Isaac Kosgey has arrived at the EACC offices in Eldoret for an interview and statement recording over the management of the institution.

Deputy Director of the EACC Charles Rasugu confirmed that Kosgey had reported at the offices in Eldoret for interview and statement writing.

Kosgey is expected to shed light on a number of projects being investigated at the EACC.

The VC arrived at the offices at about 9.35 am.

“He has arrived as per the appointment,”  said Rasugu.

Kosgey was driven to the EACC offices in a probox car before he signed a visitor’s book and was then ushered into one of the offices.

He told journalists that he would address them after the interview.

“Let me finish then I will talk with you out here,” said Kosgey.

The EACC has already listed 11 projects, valued at Sh2.2 billion, which are under investigation.

Other officers invited for interview and statement recording include the Head of the Development unit Moses Kipkulei, the Head of Procurement Wilson Bett and Chief Accountant Egla Samoei.

“To facilitate investigations you are invited to attend an interview and state recording in respect of the same at the EACC offices in Eldoret,” said part of the letter from the commission to VC Kosgey.

The letter signed by Rasugu says the projects under investigation include the proposed construction of a school of public health, dentistry and nursing and related works for Sh726.4 million.

The second project is the proposed construction of Library Phase 11 at Annex Campus and its related works for Sh1.1 billion.

Another project is electrical installation at the School of Public Health and Dentistry at a cost of Sh148 million.

The fourth major project also under probe by the EACC is the electrical installation at the Library annex at a cost of Sh169 million.

Several components of the same library project at the Annex Campus are under investigation by EACC,  including the mechanical and air conditioning allegedly at a cost of over Sh 35 million.

Another project is the construction of an amphitheater project at the main campus and also consultancy services for the various projects.

They have been asked to provide contracts for the various projects and minutes of related meetings that approved work on the projects.

The university is currently in a crisis with workers including dons on strike demanding over Sh12 billion in salary arrears.

This has stalled learning at the institution with learners left on their own.
