Political activist Hanifa Adan has denied reports that she has joined the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper party.

In a statement after social media users claimed that she had joined the opposition party, Hanifa said the claims are false.

She insisted that she is not affiliated in any way with the opposition coalition Azimio or any other political party.

Hanifa explained that all she had done was present an award to former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

The activist added that she didn’t know there would be a press conference during the presentation of the award but when she was called to speak, she took the chance to say what she wanted to tell the people of Kenya.

“I was called by the National community-based organization to present the peace ambassador awards to His Excellency and didn’t even know it was a presser, this was after I spoke. This looks like I’m in Azimio or something and I would like to categorically state that I’m not affiliated with Azimio or any political party. This was my speech as well!!! I said peace goes hand in hand with justice and we want justice for every one of us that has been mercilessly killed!” Hanifa said.

The claims that she had joined the opposition outfit spread after she appeared in a press conference with the leaders at the SKM Centre.

She further refuted claims that Kalonzo had taken advantage of her

A few days ago, activist Kasmuel McOure who was part of the Gen Z protests went public with his affiliation to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

In a statement on Sunday, after a meeting with party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel said the party is now out to revive youth and student leagues across the country.

He went on to say that ODM is the only pro-people party in East and Central Africa.

The activist further called on young people to join the party, insisting that it is the only political movement that pushes for a country where everyone can live with dignity.

“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty – the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!

“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair @gladyswanga, for your faith and for hosting us this weekend,” Kasmuel said.

Kasmuel said together with other people they will be going out in an outreach to get the educated and uneducated to join the party.
