Why did Reuben Kigame want Whitman to resign?
Among them is presidential hopeful Reuben Kigame, who has frequently accused Whitman of undue influence in Kenya’s electoral processes.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke from the US, Kigame revealed that he began urging for Whitman’s resignation nearly three months ago, utilising social media and public statements in both Kenya and the US to amplify his concerns.
“I am so grateful that the US Ambassador to Kenya has resigned. I know that many factors have contributed to this, but I am glad to have been part of the pressure, now for nearly 3 months. I have used social media as well as public statements in Kenya and here in the US where I currently am,” he said.
Kigame’s calls for Whitman’s resignation intensified after she met with a senior IEBC official and following the government’s decision to grant Bill Gates immunity, allowing him unrestricted access to the country to promote his controversial agendas of depopulation and vaccination.
Whitman’s exit marks a significant moment in US-Kenya diplomatic relations, leaving questions about the future direction of policies and partnerships under her successor.

Meg Whitman says she wouldn’t resign
Meanwhile, following President Donald Trump’s election, Whitman faced backlash among Kenyans because of her relationship with President William Ruto.
However, she remained defiant and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing America’s shared goals of increased prosperity, security, and respect for democratic values in Kenya.
She expressed confidence that the relationship the US and Kenya had spanning 60 years would continue even under Trump’s administration.
