Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, who often flattered President William Ruto, never foresaw a reality in which he would be unceremoniously ejected from power and his replacement sought from within his circle.

In September this year, former Cabinet minister and current leader of the DAP-K party Eugene Wamalwa counselled Gachagua to be wary as his ouster was imminent.

This was after the president onboarded a host of members of the opposition into the National Executive in his broad-based government rhetoric.

Wamalwa warned Gachagua that the new entrants in government would dislodge him from his post if he was not careful.

“Politics are always dynamic, and we can’t predict what is coming; our friends who we were within the opposition have entered the government. Our friends are like a camel. When the camel enters a tent it argues it only has its head inside, before it pushes its whole body. You (Gachagua) should be careful because those friends of ours will remove you from the government. Be very careful,” said Wamalwa.
