KCSE Exams to Proceed as Scheduled on Friday Despite Kindiki’s Swearing-In, Says Education CS Ogamba

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will continue as scheduled on Friday, November 1, 2024, As confirmed by the Ministry of Education despite the day being declared a public holiday.
As reported by The Star Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba reassured that all members taking part in administering the national examinations are expected to report to work and ensure that examination activities are conducted smoothly.
The public holiday coincides with the swearing-in of Deputy President-designate Kithure Kindiki, as announced by Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
A gazette notice specified that this holiday was declared to facilitate the transition of power, following the appointment of Kindiki to replace the impeached Rigathi Gachagua.
A 21-member committee, led by Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau, has been formed to oversee the swearing-in process.
The committee includes key Principal Secretaries and security officials, such as General Charles Kahariri and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.
The formation of the committee followed a High Court ruling that lifted previous restrictions on Kindiki’s appointment, clearing the way for the ceremonial event.
As students prepare for their exams, the government emphasizes its commitment to ensuring educational activities proceed without disruption, reinforcing the importance of maintaining academic integrity during this significant political transition.
