President William Ruto presided over this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kwale Stadium.

In his speech, he notably avoided mentioning Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment despite expectations from the public. Ruto was received by Kithure Kindiki, the deputy president’s nominee.
Speaking after his discharge from the hospital, Gachagua claimed he was prevented from attending the national event on the president’s orders.
He revealed that all helicopter owners had been warned not to allow him to use their aircraft to reach the venue.
“There were efforts that I should not go to Kwale for the celebration. Wilson Airport was told that I should not go through Wilson. All owners of helicopters were told that I should not be allowed to use any of them to go to Kwale, I don’t understand,” he stated.

Gachagua also expressed his concerns regarding the withdrawal of his security following his late-night impeachment while he was being treated for severe chest pains at Karen Hospital.
