In the motion by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, Gachagua faces 11 charges that he claims are grounds that warrants to impeachment of Gachagua.
Weighing on the ongoing proceedings, Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai has alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta tried to save deputy president Rigathi Gachagua from impeachment.
According to Alai, Uhuru and Tom Macharia, who is one of Gachagua’s legal team, having been working together to save Gachagua.
He further went ahead to claim that Uhuru is funding Gachagua in the fight against his impeachment.
Not leaving Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) from his claims, Alai said that Uhuru had also reached out to ODM leadership through a phonecall requesting them not to support Gachagua’s impeachment.
‘Lawyer Tom Macharia and Uhuru Kenyatta are one and the same thing.
Uhuru is sponsoring Gachagua in the fight.
Few days ago he made a call to ODM asking that Gachagua be helped not to be impeached,’ Alai claimed.
Gachagua’s legal team is led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite, alongside Elisha Ongoya, Ndegwa Njiru, Faith Waigwa, Amos Kisilu, Swanya Victor Ogeto, John Njomo, George Wandati, George Sakimpa, Andrew Muge, Eric Naibei, Juliah Omwamba,Willis Echesa and Tom Macharia.
