Nairobi – Senior Counsel James Orengo has cast doubt on the claims that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been taken ill.

On Thursday, October 17, Gachagua’s lawyer, Paul Muite, disclosed that the deputy president had been admitted to The Karen Hospital.

Muite told the House that Gachagua was suffering from intense chest pains and had been advised to have a complete rest.

However, Orengo, lead counsel for the National Assembly, said Gachagua’s legal counsel had not tabled any document to support the sickness claim.

Orengo added that the deputy president appeared physically well during the morning session and that Gachagua had taken himself to the hospital.

“The doctor should be here to tell us the condition of the deputy president. We are relying on the evidence of my friend Paul Muite. The DP was not evacuated from here in an ambulance. He went to his office and took himself to Karen Hospital.

There is no evidence that the DP was evacuated in an ambulance. In the absence of medical evidence from a doctor, Gachagua’s illness may be opportunistic,” Orengo claimed.
