Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu has today been unveiled as the new Reims FC player after completing a move to the French league one side.The Kenyan international defender completed his medicals yesterday before signing a mouthwatering deal worth four years.Okumu will now earn double the salary he was earning at KAA Gent before switching allegiances to France.
Okumu has been earning 5 million Kenyan shillings per month and will now take home a whopping 10 million plus bonuses at Reims FC. The Kenyan has become the most expensive Kenyan player in history behind Victor Wanyama.
Okumu started his footballing activities at Kakamega Boys High school before moving to Chemilil Sugar,he later on joined South African side Pretoria University.However,his stay in South Africa did not last long.He decided to join MLS but later on joined Swedish allavaskan side Elfsborg FC.Okumu played for two years in Sweden before moving to Belgium side KAA Gent. He was the most expensive player sold by Elfsborg FC.
His move to French league one side Reims FC marks his most important journey of his career. We wish him all the best in his new adventure.
