Meet The Tallest Tribe In Africa That Can Make You Look Like A Dwarf. (Photos)
The expected average height of a healthy person should be 163 cm for women and 176.5 cm for men – as defined by the WHO growth reference standards. Interestingly, the global average height is 159.5 cm for women, and 171 cm for men – it’s lower than we’d expect.
The people of South Sudan called the people of Dinka are the tallest in the world. They are about 6 ft tall. If a normal person stands next to them you will look like a dwarf. They live along the Nile and are the largest in this country. They also have an ample diaspora community.
Ancient Dinka is dated back to around 3000 B.C.E. in the Sahara Desert, where hunter-gatherers settled in the largest swamp area in the world, southern Sudan. Dinka society spread out over the Sudan region in recent centuries, from around 1500 C.E.
The Dinka mostly make a living from agriculture and pastoralism, relying on cattle husbandry for milk and as a matter of cultural pride. Instead of a centralized authority, they have many independent but interrelated clans. Traditionally, some of these clans provide ritual chiefs, known as “fishing spear masters” or beny bith, who provide leadership to the entire people (the title appears to be at least partly hereditary)
