Siaya Governor James Orengo has said that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp will do what their boss Raila Odinga says in the next 11 days should President William Ruto and his government fail to meet their demands.
On Wednesday, Raila gave President Ruto 14 days ultimatum to reintroduce subsidies and reduce the cost of living among other demands, failure to which he will lead his supporters for mass action.
Speaking in Kakamega County on Saturday during the Azimio rally, Orengo said that nobody is fearing Ruto and should the president fail to act, the opposition will be ready to remove him from State House.
“They stole Baba’s votes in the August 9th elections. I want to say that after 11 days, we are going to State House. I request all of you when Raila tell us to go to State House we come out in large numbers.”
“In Siaya, we have said that we will do what Baba tells us to do, and I want to urge you to support him, and answer his call to have us liberate this country. Revolutions and rebellions do not come easy, but if you are united, we will do what Baba wants us to do. Nobody should be afraid of Ruto, he cannot match Baba’s speed,” said Orengo.
President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua among other leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance camp have dismissed Raila’s threats, saying that they will not be intimidated.
Ruto at one time said that the opposition will conduct their rallies until they get tired, although a number of political analysts claim that the president might give in to Raila’s demands for the sake of sanity of the country.
