ODM Senator Now Says There’s No Means To Remove A Govt In Place, Reveals Only Thing Azimio Can Do

ODM Members of Parliament who went to visit President William Ruto at State House held another meeting with DP Rigathi Gachagua on Friday.

In an interview with the Sunday Nation, the rebel MPs explained their decision to work with the government. A decision that has angered their party leader Raila Odinga.

Kisumu Senator Professor Tom Ojienda noted that it was imperative to work with the government so as to realize development projects in the Nyanza region which has been ‘marginalized’ regime after regime.

He talked about the planned rallies and demonstrations to push for regime change noting that it will be impossible for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition to remove a government that has already been put in place.

Senator Ojienda said that the only way Azimio could succeed is by going for a review of the judgment that was issued by the Supreme Court in the presidential petition and adding new evidence.

“I am a law professor and I know how a government is established. After we went to the Supreme Court, there is no other constitutional means to remove a government in place unless you go for a review of the judgment and present fresh evidence,” he said.

He added that he was going to proactively work with the government for the sake of the development of his region.

“Basic politics requires that we have checks on the government as the opposition but we must ensure also ensure that Nyanza is not left behind in terms of development,” he said.

Azimio held its seventh rally yesterday in Kisumu’s Moi grounds. A day before they were in Kisii. Raila says these rallies will only stop when they have the legitimate election winner at State House.
