Prof Calestous Juma, who teaches at Harvard University, is the only Kenyan to be listed in the inaugural list of “2017 Most Reputable People on Earth”.Calestous Juma is a Kenyan professor working in the United States has been named among the most reputable people in the world.
Calestous Juma FRS HonFREng was a Kenyan scientist and academia, specializing in sustainable development. He was named one of the most influential 100 Africans in 2012, 2013 and 2014 by the New African magazine.In 1988, Juma founded the African Centre for Technology Studies, Africa’s first independent policy research institution designed to advance research on technology in development.
In 1989 ACTS released a ground breaking study called “Innovation and Sovereignty” that led to the adoption of the Industrial Property Act in Kenya and the creation of the Kenya Industrial Property Office. Until his untimely death in December 2017 Professor Calestous Juma was an internationally recognized authority and leader in the application .
