Mpesa was invented by a Jommo Kenyatta University Of Agriculture And Technology student called Anyona Ouko Nyagaka. He didn’t have enough resources to run it so he passed over the idea to Michael Joseph who gave him a wholesome rewards and a copyright certificate. The system was however advanced by Nick Hughes and Susie Lonie who used foreign help to bring it up. The product was later sold to Safaricom PLC at 2 Billion Kenyan shillings.
Since then it has been used worldwide by most countries. Sharing ideas is the key development of a country. Since the pop up of the idea, many Kenyans have been able to transfer, save, get credit and use fuliza services. Recently, the hustler fund project cropped up and its backbone is the mpesa idea.
