TBT Photo of Minister Paul Ngei Engaging in Physical Fight With Ass. Minister, William Malu in 1968

A photo of Former Minister in Kenya’s Firsts President, Jomo Kenyatta’s Administration engaging in physical fight Infront of the public had finally resurfaced. Paul Ngei who was dubbed the Ukambani kingpin during Late Jomo Kenyatta’s tenure was unhappy with Assistant Minister, William Malu for forcing his way into KANU Party offices in Machakos County.

In 1968, in the presence of policemen and media crew, Ngei and Asst. Minister William Malu traded blows over control of the Machakos KANU office. The two exchanged blows as the news of their fight headlined front pages of Newspapers.

The throwback photo has been posted by renown Political commentator, John Kamau in his official tweeter account. Senior Counsel, Paul Muite while responding to the photo has jokingly claimed that Paul Ngei complained bitterly that the Nation Photo maliciously showed him when down indicating that he was the one beaten which he claimed wasn’t so.

The two fought in the presence of Media and many Kenyans praised them for agreeing to settle their political scores personally instead of involving their supporters.
