Parents And Teachers Clash Over JSS Uniform Ahead Of School Reopening

It is exactly two and half weeks remaining for Grade Seven learners to join Junior secondary school.

Grade Seven learners are expected to join Junior secondary school by 30th January 2023. According to the ministry of education, junior secondary schools will be domiciled in primary schools.

But before all that, there are several issues that are yet to be settled. However, according to the report presented to the President,JSS will be headed by primary school headteachers.

Another issue is on school uniforms. It is a blow to the anxious learners who are expected to join Junior secondary school as parents and teachers clash over the uniforms.

The war has intensified between parents and teachers since they do not agree whether to have different uniforms or maintain the ones they were using initially.

According to the Daily Nation News Paper, the National Parents Association Chairperson, Mr Silas Abuhatsa, different uniform is not necessary.

Mr Abuhatsa said that Grade Seven learners should be allowed to wear the same uniform they used in primary school.

He added that the move will prevent parents from being exploited by traders who would take advantage.

On the other hand, teachers are of the opinion that Grade Seven learners should have different prototype uniforms.

As of now, the matter has not been fully settled bearing in mind that Grade Seven learners are expected to report by 30th January 2023.
