“Working In Saudi Arabia Changed My Life. I Built My Parents A Multi-Million Mansion.” Mary Narrates

Mary Wanjiru from Kiambu happily narrates how her job as a househelp in Saudi Arabia, changed her life and that of her parents completely. She talks about how she build her parents a multi-million Mansion and several rental houses while still working in Saudi Arabia.

Mary Wanjiru was born and raised in Kiambu in a family of eight children. Her parents were farmers a d livestock keepers and life was challenging while they were growing up. While she was in form two her elder sister finished her highschool education and got a job in Saudi Arabia.

She says that this motivated he because her sister would sent them money for upkeep and helped her parents a lot. Immediately after she finished highschool she also got a job in Saudi Arabia as a househelp and she left. She met her first employer who had a three months old child. Life was difficult at first because she hardly understood their language.

A few months later she settled in and start saving money. She stayed there for two and a half and years before she came back to Kenya. She had managed to save 300k which wasn’t enough for a project.

“I knew that the money I had saved would not be enough to build my parents a house.” Mary says.

She decided to go back and during this time her younger sister and brother also joined her in Saudi Arabia but they worked in different places. She says that they decided to do a project for their parents. She had saved some money and her siblings added her more money and they build ten rental houses for her parents.

She says when she finished her contract she didn’t come back home immediately and she decided to add another contract. She works for two more years and this is when she decided to build her parents a mansion. Together with her siblings who were also working in Saudi Arabia they saved two million Kenyan shillings and build their parents a house.

Mary Says that it took them two years to save the required money and they build her parents a good house and also open a business for her father. She stayed in Saudi Arabia for a total of eight years and she is proud of her achievements. She says that she doesn’t regret working there and she believes that there people who have changed their lives while working on Saudi Arabia.

Mary says that she came back to Kenya a few months ago and she has also opened her own business too. Her parents are happy and proud of the achievements she has made for the eight years she worked in Saudi Arabia.
