Every year, Nantes, Caen, Bordeaux and Orléans take part in the Challenge Emiliano Sala. But this summer, the Canaries decided to throw in the towel. “FC Nantes, through the voice of its coach, Antoine Kombouaré, has made the decision not to play in the 2nd edition of the Challenge Emiliano-Sala. The initial conditions of participation for which the club had committed are no longer met. FC Nantes wishes to recall that the motivation for this decision is purely sporting, and in no way calls into question its attachment to the memory of Emiliano Sala, as well as the quality of the organization and the warm welcome of the volunteers, without forgetting the Nantes supporters present in the region ».
To explain this decision, the coach of the Canaries, Antoine Kombouaré, declared that the situation of Bordeaux had had a decisive impact. “Because of its extra-sporting situation, Bordeaux does not guarantee us to present itself with a competitive team. So I made the decision to withdraw the team from the Emiliano-Sala Challenge”can we read on the official website of the FCN.
