A top girls’ school in Baringo has attracted alot of controversy after inviting the students’ fathers and male relatives of form 3 students in an academic day scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 12, 2022.The message that has now gone viral invited only male parents to the academic day of Kapropita girls high school in Baringo and they should not fail to appear. The letter went ahead to inform them that the consultation between the father figure of the students and teachers will kick off at exactly 9am on Saturday.
Complains have now emerged among locals and parents who now claim that the move by the school is very sensitive to students who don’t have fathers, orphans or living with single mothers.
Nation Media Group contacted Kapropita girls high school principal Ms Jennifer Kiprono, she said that the objective was genuine and parents and locals should not take it out of context. She added that the school wants to bring on board the father figures in the students’ lives as part of its phychosocial support approach to learning.
For those students who don’t have fathers , they have allowed their brothers, cousins and uncles to attend. The principal went ahead to say that a similar meeting took place last month for form four where only mothers were invited and no one complained.
