Nairobi governor Mike Sonko’s eldest daughter Saumu Mbuvi had advised single moms to find a father figure for their children.
According to the mother of a 3-year-old daughter, a father is important in a child’s life.
She spoke from her own experience following her breakup with baby daddy Ben Gatu, who left her to raise their daughter alone.
“I bought everything on my own and made sure my daughter was comfortable. I don’t advise women to be single. If you break up with your baby daddy, look for a father figure. A dad is a very important person in every child’s life,” Saumu said in an interview with Massawe Japanni.
She further praised her current lover – Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip – for stepping up to the task of a father.
“My lover right now is a very amazing father to my daughter.”
Saumu once again disclosed that Benson Gatu was abusive.

“We started as friends, dated for nine months, and we broke up when I was heavily pregnant. He used to beat me and after sharing with my pals, I went to my dad and told him I couldn’t take it anymore. I told him ‘I know I have wronged you’, and he accepted me back as a father.”
Ms Mbuvi, who recently adopted a baby girl, further advised women to always walk away from violent relationships.
“I was young and naive, got into a relationship after graduating and rushed to get married. I wouldn’t advise women to be in toxic relationships. Don’t allow violence in a relationship.”
