Musician turned radio presenter Max Nyatome commonly known as Didge has issued a statement in response to his insensitive comments about slain University student Ivy Wangechi.
On Tuesday night, the ‘Mtaani’ show presenter poked fun about the gruesome murder of the sixth-year medical student at Moi University School of Medicine.
Homeboyz radio listeners instantly took to social media to castigate Didge and his co-presenter Miss Katiwa for being insensitive and lacking empathy for the deceased and her family.
Worse still, the presenters were running on the false narrative that Ivy Wangechi was murdered for being disloyal to her supposed killer boyfriend, Naftali Njahi Kinuthia.
A Twitter user, Mwass, who was listening to the late night show tweeted: “WTF is that conversation going on @HomeboyzRadio? How does someone hack the girlfriend to death and you guys are on air making jokes about the situation? Why is Didge making puns about being chopped up and everyone breaking into laughter? F*** you!”
HBR management acted swiftly and by Wednesday morning, Didge had been suspended and the show pulled out of the schedule.
Didge also took to social media to apologise for his insensitive remarks.

“It is with a sincere heart that I apologise to anyone who was offended by the remarks made on our show Mtaani yesterday (Tuesday the 9th of March) past 10 pm.
After careful revision of the said show, we made some remarks that were provocative and seemingly tasteless on a very sensitive subject matter, having said that, I am also deeply sorry to anyone who might have been hurt by these comments.
As one of the lead presenters of the Mtaani show, I take full responsibility and I’m totally remorseful for the specific statements. I would also like to apologise to our colleagues and the @homeboyzkenya (HBR) station as a whole.
We as MTAANI apologise to our fans as well and the immediate public on this issue. We are definitely taking steps to make sure we improve on the quality of our content. “
