Sarah Michelle Gellar Pens Sweet Note For Selma Blair

During last night’s show, Selma, who has been battling multiple sclerosis for several years, performed one final dance with her partner Sasha Farber.

.@SelmaBlair & @SashaFarber gave us a memorable night with a beautiful final performance. Thank you Selma for inspiring us with your perseverance and radiant energy. ❤️ #DWTS #MostMemorableYear @DisneyPlus

She tearfully explained that after getting some testing done, it was in her best interest not to continue with the competition.

“I had MRIs and the results came back, and it all adds up to, I can’t go on with the competition,” Selma shared. “I’ve pushed as far as I could.”

She added, “With a chronic illness, you do have special considerations, and my body has taken a hit. It’s way too much for the safety of my bones. I could do extensive damage that I, of course, do not want.”

While withdrawing from the competition was a difficult decision, Selma had the full support of her friends — including BFF Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“Long before @dancingwiththestars I knew you were a ten, and now the world knows. Selma I’ve never been so proud of you (and I’m often proud of you),” Sarah wrote in a touching Instagram post.

She continued, “You make the rest of us believe that we can do anything. That we can never give up.”

Sarah also gave a special shoutout to Sasha for making the experience “pure joy” and giving the gift of watching “the happiness radiate from Selma each week as she stepped on stage.”

“And speaking of gifts- @selmablair your love and friendship is the greatest gift. I love you Blair,” Sarah concluded.

Selma didn’t take long to write back, calling Sarah the “heart and soul of all great things” and thanking her for always showing up for her.

“The way this @dancingwiththestars experience with @sashafarber1 and all of the cast…. Has rallied with true grit and JOY and determination has inspired me more than I can process,” Selma wrote.

She added that she now has had the “extreme elation and grace of dancing on a ballroom floor” and being lifted by not only her “loves” but also the public.

“I have been so fortunate to be loved by you… I love you so dearly. Thank you for being by my side on another journey,” Selma added. “Here’s to many more. ♥️. I love you. Thank you.”

Wishing Selma the best as she puts her health first!
