Hilary Duff Looks Back At 2003 Vanity Fair Cover

“I remember being like, ‘This is cool I was included in this.'”

For context on how long ago this was, Hilary’s upcoming projects were listed as “The films Cheaper by the Dozen and The Cinderella Story, as well as a CD.”

Lest you need a reminder, the cover featured Amanda Bynes, the Olsen twins, Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, Alexis Bledel, Evan Rachel Wood, Raven Symoné, and Lindsay Lohan (phew). And that’s just the celebs on the cover — there were plenty more inside!

Lindsay and Hilary were feuding at this time after both of them dated Aaron Carter, and — given that Aaron was also included in the spread — I cannot even fathom the amount of teen tension on set.

“I remember being like, ‘This is cool I was included in this,’” she continued. “But no, this was a very high stress, anxiety-inducing day.”

Hilary also noted the celeb pictured linking arms with her — Mandy Moore. “Mandy and I are great friends now, so this is very funny,” she added.

Hilary isn’t the only cover star to have voiced a less-than-stellar experience on set — back in 2014, Evan Rachel Wood tweeted that she felt “like meat” and was “close to tears” afterwards.
