Last month, JoJo Siwa identified Candace Cameron Bure as the “rudest celebrity” she has met.
The teen performer didn’t accuse her of being a bad person. She just recalled a memorably unpleasant run-in.
Since then, the simple comment spurred a feud, with Candace and her strangely crotchety daughter both responding.
Now, JoJo’s mother is throwing her hat into the ring. It turns out that Jessalynn Siwa has told this story before.

On Monday, August 1, Jessalynn took to Instagram to share a clip from her own podcast, Success With Jess.
This was an older clip, she explained, but absolutely on-topic.
“I talked about this on my podcast a while back,” Jessalynn noted in the caption.

“The recent story told wasn’t quite right,” Jessalynn explained, “so here is the real version.”
“At the end of the day this story,” she wrote, “it’s not about a simple photo.”
Jessalyn reasoned: “It’s about how you treat people.”

“Real, genuine kindness always goes a long way,” she pointed out.
“It’s super easy to quote a Bible verse when everyone is looking at you,” Jessalyn quipped.
She then wisely continued: “But morals are what you have when no one is looking.”

In the video itself, Jessalynn spoke about JoJo’s encounter with Candace when JoJo was just a tween.
“First of all, I have been obsessed with her since the premiere episode of Full House,” she affirmed.
Jessalynn’s disclaimer continued: “And second of all, JoJo was obsessed with her.”

“So it’s still cool, we still like her,” Jessalynn emphasized, reiterating JoJo’s sentiments.
In the video, she explained: “It was just a bad moment.”
This happened, of course, at a premiere for Fuller House in Los Angeles.

“It was awesome and quaint,” Jessalynn described. “There’s not a lot of people there.”
She continued: “All of the people from the show are there [and] they show you two episodes. It was so fun.”
Jessalynn narrated: “After that we were all upstairs on the balcony.”

“Uncle Jesse [John Stamos] was there, Joey [Dave Coulier] and Stephanie [Jodie Sweetin],” Jessalynn listed.
“And everyone was taking pictures,” she shared. “It was amazing.”
The party then moved on to a smaller venue, where things became “crowded.”
“Then,” Jessalynn recalled, “JoJo ran into DJ and was like, ‘Oh, my God, I love you so much. Can we please take a selfie?’”
She described: “And she was like, ‘Not now. Maybe later.’ Word for word — ‘Not now, maybe later.’”
This led to Jessalynn joking that JoJo should give Candace the same response if she one day wants a selfie.

Ultimately, like her daughter, she’s not accusing Candace of being a bad person. She acknowledged that being a celebrity is “hard.”
But they’d liked Candace for years. In just a few seconds, she gave mother and daughter a very different impression of her.
It’s not a big deal. But JoJo has every right to describe her experiences with people.
