90 Day Fiance viewers aren’t the only ones recoiling at the idea that Emily Bieberly may be pregnant again.
She and fiance Kobe Blaise are panicking at the possibility, too.
They’re in no position to have another kid. So why did they let this happen?
In this clip, the couple admit that it’s because Kobe insisted that Emily not take her birth control. What?
This sneak peek video of Season 9, Episode 13 shows Kobe Blaise in a state of denial.
“No, you can’t be pregnant,” he says while riding in the passenger’s seat.
A confused Emily asks what he means by that.
Kobe replies that she can’t be pregnant “after all the precautions.”
“Precautions?” Emily asks. “Kobe, you‘re the one who told me you didn’t want me to take birth control.”
That is a startling revelation for viewers.
“Yeah,” Kobe says, in a tone indicating that demanding that your fiancee not take birth control is normal and common-sense.
“So not taking birth control can obviously lead to a birth,” Emily points out.
Speaking to the confessional camera, Emily reminds Kobe of their conversation — and Kobe does not deny it.
“I refused,” he admits. “I gave you a reason why.”
Apparently, Kobe believes that being on birth control will make it difficult for Emily to conceive in the future.
We hope that we do not have to explain that this is nonsense, but just in case:
“How do you know that?” Emily challenges Kobe’s false claim. “They just told you that?”
Kobe responds with exasperation, apparently expecting her to take his medical misinformation at face value.
This sneak peek was so long that we separated it into sections for your viewing convenience.
“I pulled out when we started,” Kobe said, “and then you told me you had this application on your phone.”
He is referring to an ovulation app — a tracker that many advise uninstalling in the wake of SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade.
There are times during a body’s natural cycle when conception is very unlikely, but pulling out is no substitute for birth control.
“I don’t know how I’m going to be able to face your family if you’re pregnant,” Kobe says.
Emily’s parents are sort of laid back, but the revelation that he demanded that she not take birth control is another matter.
That could earn him some condemnation from her otherwise very chill family. That, and they broke their one rule.
Kobe is worried about finances, but Emily is the only one who is working at the moment.
The pressure to provide is all on her, and that will be more difficult with pregnancy.
Besides, being pregnant is a huge deal. It changes the body radically, and so does childbirth. There is nothing casual about it.
“I love babies, like, I want to have a lot of kids. It’s just not the right time,” Emily admits to the camera.
“I mean, we’re not even married yet, we’re still living in my parents’ basement,” she notes.
Emily continues: “And on top of that, my dad only has one rule for us, and it’s to not get pregnant.”
“It’s hard enough trying to figure out our relationship together,” a panicking Kobe remarks as Emily takes a pregnancy test.
“And I don’t have the finances to be able to take care of my family,” he points out.
Kobe concludes: “So, if Emily is pregnant right now, I don’t know how we’re going to be able to handle this.”
