Late this spring, Deavan Clegg discussed her son’s cancer with fans and followers.
The 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way alum has been there for her son since the beginning.
But where, some fans continue to ask very directly, is Jihoon Lee in all of this?
He’s just not involved. Deavan can’t make him care.
3-year-old Taeyang Lee has b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
There is no “good” age at which to undergo cancer. But obviously, this is scary and traumatic.
Fortunately, Taeyang reportedly has a good prognosis. He could be cancer-free within two years.
Deavan had to undergo a lengthy battle just to get Jihoon diagnosed.
Why? Because between enduring problems in the medical profession and recent strain on healthcare resources, several professionals didn’t take her seriously.
Taeyang needed more than iron supplements. His form of cancer could have killed him in a matter of months without treatment.
Now, Taeyang is undergoing treatment. This brings its own challenges.
Cancer treatments are often aggressive. This is hard on his little body.
At the same time, Deavan and her partner, Topher Park, are working to help him and his sister Drascilla through it.
Drascilla is now six years old.
Though Deavan and Topher did not immediately explain the cancer to her, she knew that her brother was getting treatments.
Deavan explained earlier this year that she wanted to make sure that her worries don’t ruin Drascilla’s summer.
Fans and followers constantly ask Deavan about Jihoon, whom she has not seen since spring of 2020.
The circumstances of their breakup were more than just upsetting — they were horrific.
Jihoon is in her past, and she has moved on. But where does that leave their son, Taeyang?
“Yes, we told him when we found out” about Taeyang’s cancer, Deavan once again explained on her IG Story.
“We’ve done everything we could,” she expressed with resignation.
Deavan revealed that Jihoon had told Topher that he just wants to “live his single life.”
Deavan has previously explained that Jihoon seems to be acting as if the relationship never happened.
(In many ways, it didn’t happen — she and Jihoon faked being together for longer than they really were, all for a TLC paycheck)
But for both personal and cultural reasons, Jihoon seems to also be acting as if Taeyang was never his.
That may actually be for the best, given the vicious attack that Jihoon allegedly perpetrated against then-preschool-aged Drascilla.
Meanwhile, Taeyang has bonded with Topher. Deavan suspects that he does not even remember Jihoon.
Amidst Taeyang’s treatments, their family has another piece of much, much happier news.
Deavan announced in May that she and Topher are expecting a child together.
Baby #3 for Deavan is due some time this autumn, which of course begins in over a month.
