No matter what, the current custody arrangement between Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel is nothing short of tragic.
Simply put, the kids are with Thomas. Kathryn lost. Southern Charm fans are divided, with some feeling that this was simply Thomas’ family wealth at work.
Recently, Kathryn opened up about the bitter circumstances of her custody loss.
Thomas is proclaiming that being “lied about” is a “badge of honor” for him.
Last week, disgraced former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel took to Twitter with quite a subtweet.
“I take it as a badge of honor that I don’t give way to being hated, lied about and attacked,” he began.
Thomas continued: “for fulfilling my most sacred and moral obligation: protecting my children!”
It is not exactly difficult to figure out that Thomas is talking about at least one of his baby mamas.
Remember, he and Heather Mascoe broke up about a year ago.
But, for several reasons, it seems more likely that he was addressing his more famous ex, Kathryn Dennis.
See, Kathryn very recently spoke about her custody nightmare on a podcast.
Just as many commenters have expressed, she called the current arrangement “f–king horrible.”
At present, Kathryn is only permitted to see her children every other weekend.
These visits may only take place between 9AM and 7PM.
Additionally, these are supervised visits. The court appointed the supervisor.
No one questions that these are protective measures that some families certainly need. But … do Kathryn and Thomas?
This new order of things began in March of 2021.
According to her statements on the podcast, Kathryn had failed a drug test for marijuana.
The court apparently considered this to be a “relapse.”
It’s unclear what the precise circumstances of the failed drug test may have been.
However, Kathryn alleged that Thomas had orchestrated the situation.
Why? Because, as we know, he wanted to be able to take Kensie and Saint with him to live in Aiken, South Carolina.
We do know that Thomas was working extensively to change the custody arrangement towards that end.
During the custody war, it came out that he had hired goons monitoring her and her home.
Reportedly, Thomas used this surveillance against her during the custody trial. And, eventually, he won.
No one is saying that Kathryn should be winning any mother of the year awards.
In fact, she’s not even saying that herself.
What she is saying is that she lost custody over her alleged use of a medicinal plant that is legal for vast swathes of the country.
Maybe there is more to it than that. In fact, based upon past reports from the court proceedings, that seems likely.
It’s not that people think that Kathryn is a supermom.
The real sticking point for the public is that it’s hard to imagine that Thomas is the better parent. He is certainly the richer one, though.
