Let us be clear right up front:
A mother is very much able to write nice words about her kids on social media without having an ulterior motive.
This happens all the time.
And this may have just happened with Sister Wives star Janelle Brown.
This past Sunday, the 53-year old took a moment on Instagram to share a photo of sons Gabe and Garrison working together to change a tire on the former’s car.
“It does a mama’s heart good to know she raised boys willing to help out – even each other,” Brown wrote alongside the image.
“Gabe hit something in the road and Garrison came right away to help him get the tire (which of course had a stripped lug nut) off. AND it was raining like crazy.
“I went over to help but ended up being the cheerleader as I wasn’t really needed.”
In a vacuum? A totally harmless, kind and un-newsworthy post.
But here’s the thing: Gabe and Garrison are in a pretty open feud with their dad, Kody Brown.
On a January 2022 episode of Sister Wives, Kody suggested that the 20-year old and 23-year old should move out of Janelle’s house because he didn’t trust them to follow his strict COVID-19 protocols.
From there, said that Kody was acting like “a child” and that he needed to “figure out how not to tear apart his family over something so stupid.”
A month later, on another Sister Wives installment, Kody admitted that he isn’t speaking to either of the aforementioned young men.
“[We’re] not good. Not talking,” the 52-year-old reality TV star said on the show’s reunion special, adding of Gabe and Garrison:
“It’s like one of those relationships where we’ve gotta do a lot of work.
We need therapy. I need a sit-down with my boys and get something straight. I’ve gotten to the point where I’m so angry about what happened that we’re not communicating.
“And I think they are too.”
As far as we know, the tension in this relationship still exists.
In addition to these kids, Kody shares sons Logan, 27, and Hunter, 24; and daughters Maddie, 26, and Savannah, 17, with Janelle.
His relationship with her has seen better days, too.
“Janelle and Kody have more of a brother and sister relationship,” a source recently explained to In Touch Weekly, echoing what Kody confessed to back in February.
“We’re not in sync,” Kody said at the time when pressed by the reunion host to explain where things stood with Janelle.
“We don’t partner really well, but we actually just are able to have a marriage that’s, if you will, lower in attachment…
“It’s more of a, like, just a committed relationship.”
