An odd and downright nasty rumor has haunted two marriages on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Despite an overwhelming lack of evidence, some fans think that Dorit Kemsley is boning Mauricio Umansky.
Is it true? No. But even speculation like this, when it’s around people, can cause real harm.
When a partial RHOBH alum repeated this hurtful rumor, Dorit Kemsley took her to task.
Do you remember Dana Wilkey? She’s not exactly an OG in the traditional sense.
However, she did appear on a handful of early episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
And in a recent Instagram post, she shared a screenshot of someone else’s photoshop — portraying Dorit and Mauricio having an affair in an obvious spoof.
Dorit may not have seen the original, but she certainly saw what Dana posted.
And she had something to say about it.
“Is something wrong with you woman?” Dorit began in a comment.
“Or are you just so miserable in your life you have nothing better to do?” Dorit asked.
“You’re definitely one of the thirstiest people I’ve ever seen,” she then accused.
Dorit then suggested: “I guess it’s just as simple as that?”
“Kyle and Mau are our friends,” Dorit explained, “and my kids call them uncle and auntie.”
Not unfairly, she asked: “Do you think this is ok for my kids to see when it’s a disgusting lie?”
Dorit wrote: “If this is the only way you can make a buck then so be it.”
“But at least have some decency,” Dorit asked.
“And,” she continued, “stop trying to peddle false narratives.”
“Especially when you know there is ZERO truth behind it,” she noted.
“And,” Dorit accused, “your whole motive is to just hurt people for no reason.”
Dorit concluded her comment: “It’s sad, pathetic, and bound to bite you in the ass inevitably.”
As of Tuesday morning, this comment had received thousands of likes.
As we have discussed in the past when we covered this nasty but perennial rumor, it’s simply not okay.
This kind of “speculation” is not harmless. Especially not when it’s public. Social media is public.
It can ruin friendships, damage marriages, and negatively impact people’s lives.
Obviously, there is no such thing as a “thought crime.” People may imagine what they wish.
In fact, if the idea of Dorit and Mauricio hooking up appeals to you, there are healthy ways to express that.
Write some Real Housewives fanfiction if you want. But don’t send a link to anyone involved. That’s weird.
