Anne Heche Taken Off Life Support, Mourned by Loved Ones Everywhere

Anne Heche has passed away at the age of 53.

As previously reported, the Emmy Award-winning actress was involved in a horrifying car accident several days ago that caused her vehicle to burst into flames.

She then fell into a coma at the hospital and never woke up.

On Friday, Heche was confirmed dead by a representative… although she remained on life support at the time in order for doctors to track down an organ recipient.

Late Sunday, however?

“Anne Heche has been peacefully taken off life support,” the star’s rep said in a simple and sad statement.

Two days earlier, this same rep said the following:

“Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.

“Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”

Heche rose to prominence with a dual role as twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love on the soap opera Another World.

She picked up her first awards for this role, including a Daytime Emmy Award and two Soap Opera Digest Awards.

On the big screen, Heche stared in such films as Donnie Brasco, Six Days, Seven Nights and Psycho; she also anchored her own television series, Men in Trees, back in 2006.

In the days since Heche passed away, friends, colleagues and fellow entertainers have taken to social media to mourn and pay tribute to the late star — including her ex-girlfriend, Ellen DeGeneres.

“This is a sad day,” DeGeneres wrote on Twitter after the awful news broke. “I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love.”

Elsewhere, Heche’s ex-husband, Coleman Laffoon, shared a touching video on Instagram, speaking about the actress and their shared son.

“In the wake of Anne’s passing, I just want to say a few things. One, I loved her and I miss her, and I’m always going to,” Laffoon said in a video.

Two, Homer is okay.

“He’s grieving, of course, and it’s rough, it’s really rough, as probably anybody can imagine. But he’s surrounded by his family and he’s strong and he’s going to be okay.”

Homer Laffoon is 20 years old.

The young man opened up about his grief in a statement to E! News late last week, sayigng:

“After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness.

“Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.”

He added that he was grateful for all the love and support coming in from “thousands of friends, family, and fans,” while crediting his dad and stepmother Alexi for being his “rock during this time.”

Heche also shared 13-year-old son Atlas with ex-partner James Tupper, who previously paid tribute to the actress shortly before her passing.

“Love you forever,” Tupper wrote in the caption with a broken heart emoji, sharing an image of her from their 2006 ABC show Men in Trees.

In his video, Laffoon allso thanked everyone for checking in, for their prayers and for all their kind words, concluding:

“It’s so beautiful. Thank you.

“It’s hard for me, it’s hard for my family, it’s really hard for Homer, but we’ve got each other and we have a lot of support and we’re going to be okay.”
