Back in April, actor Olivia Wilde was presenting the trailer for Don’t Worry Darling to a packed room at CinemaCon when she was presented an envelope labeled “Personal and Confidential.”
“This is for me, right?” Olivia said. “Very mysterious. I’m going to open it now. Is this a script?”
Once she examined the contents inside, she said, “OK, got it. Thank you.” Turns out, she was being served by a process server via her ex-husband, Jason Sudekis, and the documents inside detailed a custody arrangement for their two kids.
Well according to court documents obtained by Page Six, Olivia was not happy about the situation, obviously.
“Jason’s actions were clearly intended to threaten me and catch me off guard,” she said in the documents.
“He could have served me discreetly, but instead he chose to serve me in the most aggressive manner possible,” Olivia continued.
“The fact that Jason would embarrass me professionally and put our personal conflict on public display in this manner is extremely contrary to our children’s best interests.”
Back in April, though, Jason denied the now-viral moment was intentional or orchestrated. “Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner,” his rep informed Variety.
And in these new documents, Jason echoed his previous words and even apologized. “I understand that the process server had only done her job,” he said. “However, I deeply regret what happened.”
“Olivia’s talk was an important event for Olivia — both professionally and personally — and I am very, very sorry that the incident marred her special moment.”
