Following a fiery and very frightening car crash on Friday, Anne Heche remains in critical condition, according to a representative for the actress.
“She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” this rep told People Magazine late Monday.
“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”
Heche most recently played a role on the drama All Rise. Throughout her impressive career, she has also appeared on Chicago PD, The Brave, Aftermath, The Michael J. Fox Show and Hung, among other programs.
She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie in 1994 — and she won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 1991.
On the big screen, Heche starred in such films as Six Days Seven Nights, Donnie Brasco and Wag the Dog.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Friday that the driver of a blue Mini Cooper was allegedly speeding while traveling eastbound on Preston Way in Los Angeles.
The car ran off the road when it entered the intersection of Preston and Walgrove.
At this point, the vehicle collided with a house on the 1700 block of Walgrove around 11 a.m. local time.
One woman was home, but she was in the backyard and was not injured in the scary incident, but the residence caught fire, resulting in the Emmy-winning actress suffering burns from the incident.
Heche was then intubated while hospitalized.
This crash occurred after witnesses told TMZ that Heche initially ran into a garage of an apartment complex.
She reportedly managed to reverse and drive off before crashing into the aforementioned home nearby.
At this time, Los Angeles authorities are still investigating the incident.
Lost Angeles Fire Department members said Heche was conscious and able to speak with firefighters while being treated before being taken to the trauma center.
Heche famously dated Ellen DeGeneres for a number of years… prior to the stars splitting and Heche getting together with actor James Tupper.
The two were a couple for 10 years until their January 2018 split.
“Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress and mother tonight Anne Heche,” Tupper wrote on Instagram after the crash, captioning a photo of Heche and the 13-year-old son Atlas they share, adding:
“We love you.”
Heche is also mother to son Homer, 20, from her marriage to Coley Laffoon.
Her ex-boyfriend Thomas Jane offered his “thoughts and prayers” to the Daily Mail, as well, crediting Heche as “one of the true talents of her generation.”
Finally, Peter Thomas Roth — who was linked to Heche in late 2021 — uploaded a tribute to the actress on Saturday, writing via Instagram:
“My thoughts and #prayers are with @anneheche for a speedy and full recovery”
