As their divorce plays out in real time, The Family Chantel is showing viewers how it all broke down.
Last week, we watched Pedro Jimeno leave Chantel Everett after an awkward and painful episode.
On this week’s episode, we saw the aftermath.
Chantel and Pedro sat down for a miserable discussion. Important, but agonizing.

Pedro Jimeno was not mincing words as he discussed a formal separation.
“I think that was the [smartest] thing that I [said],” he assessed.
Pedro then understated: “Like, things [have] not been good.”

“You’re entitled to do what you think is best,” Chantel acknowledged in the clip below.
She then expressed: “I don’t want it.”
Chantel opened up about how the final moments of their toxic marriage have made her feel.

“I feel pathetic,” she expressed.
Chantel felt humiliated “because, essentially, I feel like I’ve been begging for affection.”
She continued: “and begging for attention that I never get.”

“As a woman,” Chantel explained, “it makes me feel pathetic.”
We have all watched and listened as Chantel did just that — begged for affection from her husband.
Instead, he seemed more interested in withholding love and berating her about what she did or did not do around the house.

Pedro totally objected to Chantel’s characterization.
Instead, he pushed for the separation.
Wildly, he even claimed that it could make their marriage stronger. Hilarious.

Fans immediately noted that a man who is already having an affair might push for separation.
Meanwhile, Chantel pointed out that she cannot name a single couple for whom separation was a relationship-saver.
“How is separating gonna help us?” she demanded. “It’s ignoring the problem and drifting further apart.”

Pedro strongly disagreed … or so he claimed.
He said that they were fighting while living together, which he did not feel was solving any of their problems.
It’s unclear why “maybe we can be nicer to each other” was not an easier solution for him than “let’s live separately.”

Pedro spoke to the confessional camera.
According to him, everything was sunshine and roses until he began taking his real estate classes.
“I [started] to meet people. Go out, studying,” Pedro recalled. “That’s when things started to change.”

“I need time to know and realize what I want in my life,” Pedro then insisted.
“If we want the relationship to work or not,” he continued ominously.
“You know, you need to find your happiness sometimes,” Pedro said. “Maybe I need to have my own future without you.”
Obviously, this has all been agonizing for Chantel.
The two of them were married for five years. They endured many obstacles, particularly family conflicts, to stay together.
Now, Pedro is ending their marriage … even if he claims that he is not.

That said, it may be for the best that their toxic relationship came to an end last April.
In Chantel’s response to Pedro’s divorce filing, she did not only accuse him of adultery, but of physical abuse.
Whether that alleged abuse happened on time or a hundred, it is unacceptable. These allegations have changed how many (former) fans view Pedro.
