Despite the abolition of Britney Spears’ conservatorship last year, Jamie Spears refuses to leave Britney alone.
The music legend has spoken out against her father on social media, and plans to say more in her upcoming memoir.
Jamie intends to challenge every word of it.
Despite resisting calls for his own deposition, Jamie is demanding that Britney sit for one.

Last week, attorneys for Jamie Spears filed documents insisting that Britney Spears sit for a deposition.
The stated goal, People reports, is to challenge Britney’s past and future statements about her father.
If discussing your s–tty dad is enough to drag you into court, it might change how people use social media — and therapy.

“Britney’s counsel claims Britney is exempt from discovery obligations,” attorney Alex Weingarten complained.
These obligations are “regarding her allegations of wrongdoing.”
“But,” Weingarten insisted, “Jamie has a right to prepare his case and depose Britney.”

Weingarten argued “as she is the individual making unsupported claims against him.”
As Jamie’s attorney, he is seeking to compel Britney to sit for a deposition.
Jamie’s legal team insisted that “there is no legal basis” for Britney to object to testifying.

They then argued that Britney has already touched upon “emotionally difficult topics.”
We don’t know the legal angle here, but obviously, being questioned about trauma is not the same as writing an Instagram post.
“She claims through her court filings and through her social media musings,” Weingarten then wrote.

He said that Britney claims “to know all kinds of information relating to her allegations of wrongdoing.”
He then added: “Accordingly, Britney either: (1) has the knowledge about her allegations that she professes to have in court filings and on social media.”
Weingarten continued: “or (2) has no such knowledge or support.”

“And,” the filing insinuated, “simply believes that she can say whatever she wants in court and on social media.”
He alleged that she may believe that she can speak up “regardless of whether her allegations are true.”
Their next proceeding is scheduled for July 13. Jamie wants the court to intervene on his behalf.

To put it bluntly, Jamie Spears has a lot of nerve.
He wants this Britney Spears deposition so badly, but has reportedly been dragging his heels on offering one.
Let us remember that Jamie faces allegations of possible criminal activity during the course of the conservatorship.

Reports last year said that Jamie is under federal investigation.
Claims that he spied upon Britney, monitoring her phone and her bedroom, are very serious.
The conservatorship allowed him to get away with a great deal for a long time.

It is widely believed that Jamie fears testifying.
(Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s attorney, has stated this directly)
Perhaps that is the point of Jamie’s legal move.

Sometimes, courtroom battles turn into blackmail, with one side offering the other an “out.”
Obviously, Britney does not want to sit for a deposition. Jamie’s attorney would grill her mercilessly.
Jamie’s plan may be to use this threat to weasel out of giving his own deposition.
