Today’s Google doodle pays tribute to American investigative journalist Elizabeth Jane Cochrane, popular by her pen name Nellie Bly. Cochrane was born on May 5, 1864.
The doodle, actually a crisp Youtube video, captures her record breaking 72-day around the world journey. Nellie was also one of those “who speaks up for those told to shut up” and hence was an important part of the American women’s suffrage movement of the early 20th century.
