Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong
Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stands no chance of winning the 2028 presidential election without unity.
Addressing party supporters on Friday, April 25, 2025, he stated that internal divisions pose a significant threat to the party’s cohesion and future.
“Even if you bring Jesus Christ, without unity, we cannot win the 2028 election,” he said. According to him, the cracks within the party must be urgently addressed.
He emphasised that unity is not merely about slogans or empty talk, but about fairness and justice.
“If you want peace and unity in any party or organization, the two most important things are fairness and justice. Without them, it will be very difficult to get everybody on board,” he stressed.
Agyapong also expressed concern about selective disciplinary actions within the NPP.
“I know there’s pressure everywhere, but how can you have MPs and executives openly endorsing one candidate without punishment, while others who support a different person are dragged before the disciplinary committee? It’s not right,” he said.
“Check the MPs who were with me in Kumasi, they were called and threatened. If this continues, no matter what we do, we cannot achieve unity,” he cautioned.
He urged party executives to stand firm and be fair to all factions within the NPP.
