According to GhanaWeb, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has shared his personal experience of dealing with criticism following his daughter’s appointment as the Press Secretary to the Vice President.
During an interview on Peace FM on March 25, 2025, Pratt described how he has been the target of continuous verbal abuse and harsh comments from some individuals due to his daughter, Ama Pratt, receiving a government position.
He expressed his disbelief at the hostility directed toward him over the appointment, emphasizing that his daughter is fully qualified for the role.
He stated that being in the public eye often comes with such challenges but finds it difficult to comprehend the level of bitterness and personal attacks he has faced.
Pratt highlighted that his daughter is an independent adult, educated, and married, so there is no justification for the backlash aimed at him.
He recounted an incident where someone made a negative comment about him during a live-streamed event in which his daughter was participating.
“Yesterday she was talking on a platform which was being streamed live on social media. Someone went to comment saying ‘God will punish Kwesi Pratt’. What is the sense in this? I have not attacked anyone,” he lamented.
Ama Pratt’s appointment was announced in January 2025. In her capacity as Press Secretary, she is tasked with managing communication strategies for the Vice President’s office and serving as its official spokesperson.
