It appears the official X (formerly Twitter) account of President John Dramani Mahama experienced a setback after being hijacked by hackers, who used it to promote a meme coin.
The hackers, aiming to leverage the president’s massive following and influence, promoted a meme coin called Solana Africa.
The series of posts attempted to persuade unsuspecting individuals to purchase the product. However, officials quickly rectified the incident following concerns raised by netizens.
Additionally, the fraudulent posts promoting the meme coin have been deleted from the X account.
This incident has raised concerns among some Ghanaians regarding security breaches and how such an incident could occur on the president’s account, which they believe should be highly protected from such acts.
They argue that this incident could pose a threat to the nation’s security, calling for urgent actions to be taken to address how such a breach could have occurred. Netizens further emphasised that those responsible must be held accountable.
