Kumawu, (Ash), March 10, GNA – Mr. Ernest Yaw Anim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, has pledged his commitment to work with all key stakeholders to improve the living conditions of the people in the area.
He said though the area had witnessed progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, there was the need for improvements in the socio-economic lives of the people.
Addressing the 68th Independence Day anniversary celebrations at Kumawu, he said it was important for the present generation of leaders to also make sacrifices to improve the lives of the people, as was done by the fore-bearers of the country.
He said Independence Day celebration was monumental one in the history of the great nation.
“It is a day for honoring the sacrifices of our forebears, whose courage and vision liberated us from the bonds of colonialism and guided us toward self-determination.
This year’s celebration, which is embodied by the theme: “Reflect, Review, Reset, urges us to pause, reflect on our journey, and rededicate ourselves to the ideals of unity, progress, and prosperity,” he stated.
Mr Anim pointed out that, reflecting on the past revealed that it was “born from the sweat, blood, and tears of our heroes, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Yaa Asantewaa, Joseph Boakye Danquah, and countless others, who tirelessly fought for our freedom.
As we reflect, let us remember the values that guided our founding: unity, resilience, and selflessness.
Regarding reviewing, in which we assess the past, we must acknowledge both our achievements and our challenges.”
He said he would work to ensure the completion of the Kumawu Anglican to Nkwanta, Besoro, through Bodomase to Woraso road, as well as the TK junction to Sekyere Kumawu District hospital road at Kumawu,
He emphasised the importance of addressing challenges, particularly unemployment among the youth, and encouraged citizens to work together to overcome these challenges.
Mr Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi, the District Coordinating Director, urged citizens to prioritize principles of equality, justice, and empathy, while focusing on promoting economic opportunities, addressing educational disparities, and fostering social unity.
