Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, has stressed the importance of history in guiding national decision-making and development planning.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, March 6, Dr. Thompson emphasized that understanding Ghana’s past is essential for shaping its future.
“We cannot play down the relevance of history. Development is history. In the 40-year national development plan, there is a whole section that we devoted to Ghana’s history,” he stated.
He highlighted that knowledge of the country’s historical journey serves as a crucial reference point for informed policymaking.
The 40-year national development plan incorporates lessons from Ghana’s past to shape strategies for sustainable growth and long-term progress.
“That knowledge is a critical reference point for making contemporary [decisions],” he added.
