According to GhanaWeb, Joseph Yamin, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), recently shared his experience of being labeled a high-risk passenger at Amsterdam Airport due to unfounded accusations made by Ken Agyapong.
The former MP for Assin Central allegedly claimed in a recorded conversation that Yamin was involved in a conspiracy to harm expatriates in Kumasi during the lead-up to the 2020 elections, aiming to paint Ghana as unstable on the international stage.
The recording purportedly features Agyapong accusing Yamin of planning to ignite fires in local markets.
Agyapong asserted that Yamin and his associates were discussing strategies to undermine the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and facilitate their electoral defeat.
According to him, a meeting took place at Yamin’s residence, attended by several individuals, including Huudu Yahaya and Faisal Mohammed.
He further alleged that Yamin’s group was focused on expatriates living in areas like Asokwa and Adiebeba, with intentions of causing them harm, urging national security forces to intervene.
Additionally, Agyapong mentioned a bodybuilder known as King George, who he claimed was forming an organization under the guise of promoting peace in Kumasi, with the supposed backing of the NDC.
He suggested that King George and his associates had sinister plans involving the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
In a recent interview with Abusua FM, Yamin expressed the profound impact these false allegations have had on him, even during international travels.
He recounted being flagged as a high-risk passenger during his first trip after the accusations surfaced, noting that his name appeared among the top high-risk listings at the airport.
Yamin emphasized the unfounded nature of Agyapong’s claims and revealed that he has initiated legal proceedings against him for defamation, seeking justice for the harm caused by these allegations.
He stated: “The first time I traveled after Ken Agyapong made those false claims, I was declared a high-risk passenger at Amsterdam Airport. My name was the eighth on the list of high-risk passengers—out of the entire airport, I was the eighth! Meanwhile, that allegation was completely false. I have sued him over the matter, and we’ll see how it ends.”
