2025 Heritage Caravanites experience close encounter with Paga’s sacred crocodiles

The 2025 Heritage Caravan continued its nationwide tour with a stop at the Paga Crocodile Pond in the Upper East Region on Day 3 of its 14-region journey.

Participants had the opportunity to interact closely with the revered crocodiles, with some mustering the courage to sit and touch them, while others observed from a safe distance.

The visit to the ancient pond was filled with excitement, awe, and occasional nervousness as participants captured memorable photos of the crocodiles.

The Paga Crocodile Pond, known for its historical and cultural significance, remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.

As part of the day’s activities, the group also experienced the “Bolga We Dey” exhibition, a cultural showcase featuring artifacts, clothing, and crafts from Northern Ghana. Participants admired and purchased various traditional items during the exhibition.

After the visit, the Caravan continued its journey to the Ghana-Burkina Faso border before proceeding to Tamale, with a scheduled stop at the Red Clay Studio.

The day’s activities will conclude with a dinner at the Modern City Hotel, followed by an inter-bus dancing competition on the hotel’s poolside.

Tuesday’s activities were sponsored by the National Lotteries Authority.

Before arriving in the Upper East Region, the Heritage Caravan visited the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on March 3, where participants witnessed traditional performances and cultural displays.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2025, the tour will continue with a visit to the Mole National Park and other exciting destinations.

The Heritage Caravan, which began on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the Greater Accra Region, has introduced new elements to its itinerary this year. The third day of the tour, sponsored by the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), will see participants travel to the Northern Region for the next phase of their adventure.

The Heritage Caravan is an annual initiative that welcomes participants from all backgrounds, fostering camaraderie, cultural exchange, and adventure.

From young professionals eager to explore Ghana to seasoned travelers seeking new experiences, the event unites a diverse community of explorers.

Sponsors of the 2025 Heritage Caravan include the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Hollard Insurance, OmniBSIC, Appolonia City, Standard Water, Peeva Beverages, GB Foods and GOIL PLC, with the Ghana Tourism Authority as partners.
