The Technical Advisor of the Black Stars, Winfried Schafer, has called for unity among the players in the team as they look to revive their performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He stated that Ghana is known for churning out skilful footballers who ply their trade with European clubs, yet fail to replicate the same performance with the national team.

The German coach noted that the challenges the team is facing could be attributed to a lack of cohesive play among the players.

“Ghana has very good players, playing across Europe. The local players and the players born in Ghana who play in Europe are all good. These are the three types of players we have to bring together.

“That’s very important. Not the best players win matches, but the best teams win matches, and when all play together,” he said while speaking in an interview with ghanafa.org.

Schafer will be providing expert advice to the playing body and restructuring the team.

The Black Stars will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Chad in March 2026.
